- Customers have complained of outrageous billings

In separate interviews with Daily Sun, customers within the Ikeja DisCo distribution franchise have complained about outrageous estimated billing. This is regardless of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Order suspending estimated billing. Some Consumers have alleged that they are being billed as high as, ₦84,000 despite current economic challenges in the country. The consumers alleged an average monthly bill as high as ₦700,000.
The President of Electricity Consumer Rights Forum, Mr. Austin Caulcrick, has asked the DisCos to prepare for a showdown with consumers. He described the bills from Ikeja DisCo as wicked and an attempt to suffocate consumers.
Residents of the areas affected have asked NERC and the FederalCompetitveness Consumer Protection Council (FCCPC) to intervene in the matter.
