- The solar project will yield 32GWh of electricity annually.
- The plant will be built alongside a 21MW wind farm.
Enefit Green AS, an Estonian power producing company, has announced that it has taken its final investment decision (FID) on the 32 MW Purtse solar farm. The solar farm, which is to be built together with a wind park, is Estonia’s first large-scale hybrid facility.
Enerfit Green will invest up to EUR 19.5 million in the solar project and expects it to be completed by 2023. The solar facility is expected to have a power output of 32 GWh, enough to cover the yearly energy demand of more than 10,000 average Estonian homes.
The solar plant will share the grid connection of the 21 Mw Purtse wind farm for which Enerfit Green took an FID earlier in the year. The wind farm contains five turbines and is expected also to commence operations next year.
Enerfit Green, last week, announced its intention to invest EUR 1.5 billion over five years in a bid to quadruple its current renewable energy generation capacity to about 1.9 GW.
