- EEP unveils 10-year plan for power sector
- To build 71 power projects over the next ten years
Ethiopian Electric Power has unveiled its 10-year plan for Ethiopia’s power sector. The EEP plans to build 71 power projects over the next ten years. The projects are estimated to cost at least $40 billion.
EEP Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Andualem Siae stated that the projects would be financed via Public-Private Partnerships, the African Development Bank (AfDB), the World Bank and other development financiers. In addition, the EEP and the Ethiopian government will also partly finance these projects.
The projects, including hydroelectric plants, solar plants, wind and steam power projects, will be constructed by several firms, including Saudi Arabia’s Aqua Power Company, United Arab Emirates firm, Amia, etc. See also confirmed that the construction of Tulu Moye and Corbett steam power projects has commenced.
