The European Union and the government of Namibia are working on a possible green hydrogen deal. As Europe s working on cutting itself off Russian gas, according to Reuters, it also desires Namibia to harness its wind and solar potential to produce green hydrogen.
According to an EU official cited by Reuters, the two countries plan on signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on hydrogen and minerals at the UN Climate Change Conference that will take place in November in Egypt. The director-general of Namibia’s National Planning Commission, Obeth Kandjoze, revealed to Reuters that work was already going on for a deal on green hydrogen. However, he did not speak about minerals.
The European Commission would not comment on a potential agreement.
