Danish clean energy developer European Energy is set to sell its 120.5MW solar PV capacity in Italy’s Southern region of Apulia to local holding company Iren Spa for €166 million. The assets comprise the 103MW solar plant in Troia, in Foggia province and a 17.5MW PV facility located in bari. The Troia plant began selling electricity to the Italian spot market in June 2020 to meet the deadline set by the Regional Administrative Court of Apulia as a requirement to reinstate the project’s approval.
European Energy had acquired the ASI Troia FV1, a special purpose company that owns the Troia project, in February 2019. European Energy and Iren have also agreed to partner in developing 437.5MW of solar PV projects in the Italian regions of Lazio, Apulia, and Sicily over the coming years.
