Eurus Energy Holdings Corp announced today that it has started building a 10-MW/27.42-MWh grid-connected battery energy storage system (BESS) in Hokkaido.

The project, Eurus Hokkaido Ikeda Town Battery Park, will use lithium-ion batteries and begin commercial operation in October 2027. Once the project comes online, Eurus Energy said it will operate the facility through ReEra, its proprietary virtual power plant (VPP) platform.

KYOCERA Communication Systems Co., Ltd handles the project’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) works. Japan’s Agency for Natural Resources and Energy has selected the plant for development support.

Eurus Energy highlighted that the Ikeda Town facility represents its fourth BESS project in Japan and its first in Hokkaido, underscoring the company’s commitment to expanding grid resilience and renewable energy integration across the country.
