Eurus Energy Holdings Corp, a Japanese wind project developer, announced today the commencement of power generation at the 64 MW Kawanishi Wind Farm on Hokkaido island. The facility is the company’s third wind park under its Dohoku wind power generation project, which aims to install 107 wind turbines at six sites in northern Hokkaido.
These wind farms are located in the municipalities of Wakkanai and Toyotomi and feature 15 wind turbines supplied by Siemens Gamesa. With a 4.3 MW capacity each, the machines can generate enough power to meet the electricity consumption of approximately 47,000 average households. The firm noted that Japanese utility, Hokkaido Electric Power Network Inc., is the sole purchaser of the wind park’s entire output.
