The Federal Government (FG) has started work on a 132-kilovolt transmission line in Ekiti state to raise the capacity by 204MW, a 2 by 60MVA transmission substation, and a switching station (MW).
The Minister of Power, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu said in a statement released in Abuja by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Ndidi Mbah, as having spoken at the groundbreaking event in Ado Ekiti. According to the minister, the project consists of a 50-kilometre section of a 132kV transmission line starting in Ikere (Ado Ekiti) and ending in Ilupeju Ekiti.
He claims it also features a switching station at Ikere (Ado Ekiti) and a 2X60MVA, 132/33kV transmission substation with four line bays at Ijesa Isu Ekiti.
Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, the Managing Director and CEO of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, said TCN is also working on substation and line projects across the country, all of which are in various levels of completion.
The minister also urged the people of Ekiti to aid the government’s fight against the destruction of power plants.
