FG to Meet Governors Over Electricity Tariffs

  • Still in talks with Labour on last tariff increment

The Federal Government (FG) has stated its intentions to meet with the various state governments to discuss the issues surrounding electricity and fuel pricing. The Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige made this known after a meeting of the FG/Labour unions.

Ngige said the issue of electricity tariffs is still ongoing. He noted the peaceful nature of the negotiations so far with the member of the organised labour. On the issue of PMS pricing, he said, “As for the issue of the price of PMS, it is a work in progress. The governors are to discuss this on Thursday at the National Economic Council, and hopefully there will be a way out of the situation”.

Speaking on the negotiations, the Leader of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba said, “The reports were presented and we pointed out areas that we are not comfortable with and also made some suggestions which will form the basis of decisions on the matter”.
