- The subsidiary aims for uninterrupted power in FHA estates, starting with Zuba Housing Estate.
The Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Hon. Oladimeji Oyetunde Ojo, has committed to enhancing electricity provision across the country as part of the agency’s response to the ongoing energy crisis. This assurance was made during the inauguration of the FHA Energy Distribution Limited (FHAEDL) head office in Abuja, a newly established subsidiary of the FHA.
Ojo, who also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for FHAEDL, praised the FHA staff for their dedication and productivity, which he credited with the successful launch of the new subsidiary. He acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for fostering an environment conducive to participation in Nigeria’s energy sector, which FHA has strategically leveraged.
According to Ojo, FHAEDL’s immediate focus is closing the energy distribution gap within FHA estates, aiming to improve uninterrupted power supply in the coming months significantly. He expressed dissatisfaction with the company’s current operations from private premises, urging management to prioritise establishing a permanent office within two years to facilitate business operations effectively.
Ojo also encouraged the new energy subsidiary to aspire for prominence similar to its counterpart, FHA Mortgage Bank, emphasising the need to generate its energy at the head office and other FHA locations to reduce reliance on the national grid.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of FHAEDL, Mr K.M. Umar, affirmed the company’s commitment to boosting electricity generation for FHA estates and other Nigerians. He announced that the company would begin by supplying electricity to the Zuba Housing Estate and the FHA head office before expanding to all FHA estates nationwide. Umar expressed gratitude for the support from the Chairman and Board, which has enabled rapid progress since the company’s establishment.
