President Barrow met with the officials of OMVG
- Pledges Gambian support for OMVG programs

President Adama Barrow has met with the officials from the sub-regional body, the Gambia River Basin Development Organisation (OMVG), and assured them of the support of the Gambian government.
President Barrow was given an update on the status of ongoing projects of the OMVG. The Gambian President also doubles as the Chairman of the Heads of State of OMVG member countries. The OMVG High Commissioner Elhadj Lansana Fofana acknowledged the assurances of President Barrow and added that the OMVG will continue to update President Barrow on its progress.
The Minister of Environment, Climate Change, and Natural Resources, Honourable Lamin Dibba has said, the projects under the OMVG will help the Gambia achieve its aim of improving access to energy in the country.
The OMVG will begin construction of the Sambangalou Hydroelectric Dam by the end of 2021. The dam will generate a total of 400 Gigawatts per hour of electricity and will be located upstream at the River Gambia.
