Residents of Touba Manduwar have been without electricity for a year
- NAWEC fails to connect community to supply
- Businesses have been affected by the blackout
The residents of Touba Manduwar in the West Coast Region (WCR) have bemoaned the extended blackout in the community. The community has, for more than one year been without electricity supply.
According to residents, the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC), the country’s energy body had installed electrical poles in parts of the town. However, these poles have not been connected to the electricity supply.
Residents have been impacted by the lack of electricity supply with businesses having to seek alternative sources of electricity. A resident Taip Secka said, ”Any kind of development seen in the village is made by the residents but the government has not done anything for us”. “We are paying taxes so, let government plow it back to us as electricity and water supply” he added.
