Over 200,000 households are left without electricity supply following floods in western Germany. German power distribution grid company, Westnetz has said, works are ongoing to restore supply. “We are trying to resolve the situation with all available hands on deck,” said a spokesperson of Westnetz.

According to the Spokesperson, many power substations are unreachable due to the closure of several roads. The company has deployed drones for the monitoring of some installations. The company’s grid area spans large parts of the states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate.

Westnetz was working with authorities and crisis response teams across the region, she said.
