- Iberdrola’s 476.25MW Baltic Eagle offshore wind project has gained approval from German regulators.
- The machines will be built on monopile foundations at a sea depth of 41 to 45 meters.
- The turbines will be connected to an offshore transformer built this year and installed in 2024.
According to Spanish utility giant Iberdrola SA, the 476.25MW Baltic Eagle offshore wind project in the Baltic Sea has gained planning approval from German regulators.
The approval came after extensive public consultation and an environmental impact assessment, according to the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH). The turbines will be connected to an offshore transformer platform built this year and delivered and installed by 2024.
The wind farm will provide 1.9TWh of green electricity annually once operational by the end of 2024, enough to power 475,000 homes.
