Bureau Veritas (BV) has successfully completed the classification of the Torman Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Floating Regasification Unit (FRU). The FRU is located at Tema port, Ghana. The FRU will a floating storage unit (FSU) and will carry out operations for approximately 20 years.
The unit “paves the way for the first deliveries of LNG to a terminal in sub-Saharan Africa and will contribute to meeting Ghana’s growing cleaner energy demand” BV says. The FRU has a regasification capacity of around 1.7 million tons of LNG per year. BV is expected to carry out maintenance of the FRU for the duration of its operations.
The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) will receive gas supply from the combined circuit plant equivalent to its capacity of 1300MW.
