- Residents hopeful on the success of the maintenance works
Residents in several cities across Ghana will experience load shedding. The Electric Company of Ghana (ECG) had last month, released a timetable for load shedding which took effect 10th April, 2021. The ECG plans to carry out maintenance work on the network infrastructure during the outages.
The planned outages will last for a period of 12 hours per area. Some residents will receive power from 6am – 6pm while the others will receive from 6pm – 6am. In a notice issued by the ECG, the planned outage will enable the ECG to tie in ”the newly constructed Pokuase Bulk Supply Point (BSP) to GRIDCo’s 330kV transmission line”. The outages will last from 10th May – 18th May, 2021.
Former Vice-Chairman, Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) Mr. Kwame Jantuah has asked stakeholders to ensure the blackouts are put to an end once maintenance work is completed. In an interview on Mid Day News, Mr. Jantuah said ”Let us hope, once they finish with the entire programme, we are not going back to it because, the impression has been that once we do this, we are not going to get any dumsor” he said.
