- ECG begins revenue protection exercise
- To reward whistleblowers at 6% of the surcharged amount
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has sought the support of consumers in reducing losses due to illegal connections. In a bid to stem illegal connections, ECG has asked its consumers to report any act of illegal connections and receive a reward of 6% of the surcharged amount.
In a statement, the ECG stated that it has kicked off a revenue protection exercise in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and the ECG National Revenue Task Force.
”The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Limited wishes to inform the general public, especially its cherished customers, that the operations of the company’s National Revenue Protection Taskforce, coordinated from the Ministry of Energy, has kicked off against illegal connection activities in all ECG operational areas,” the statement read.
The ECG will reward customers who report illegal connections after the crime has been confirmed. The statement also noted that ECG would work with the relevant authority in resolving the cases on illegal connections.
