- ECG to upgrade network infrastructure
- Tema region to benefit from upgrade
- Network infrastructure old and worn out
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced plans to undergo network infrastructure rehabilitation and upgrade in several communities around the Tema region. The Tema North Manager, Mrs. Shirley T. Asomani-Wiafe, has assured residents of the ECG’s commitment to reliable electricity supply.
Mrs Asomani-Wiafe while giving the assurances of the ECG stated that the region had seen an unexpected increase in population. The increase in population consequently resulted in the inability of the existing network infrastructure to function optimally. The resultant overload on existing transformers saw an increase in electricity blackouts in the region. She blamed some residents for encroaching on network infrastructure boundaries which she says not only endangers their lives but, makes it hard for the ECG to carry out maintenance works.
The ECG promises to extend the ongoing network upgrade to other communities within the North Tema region.
