GRIDCo issues statement
- Grid collapse occurred on Sunday 7th at 2:10 pm
- Works in progress to restore grid
The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has issued a statement on the nationwide blackout that occurred on Sunday, 7th March 2021. According to the statement, at approximately 2:10 pm, a fault in the system led to a total collapse of the grid.
The statement read, “a challenge in the power system leads to total system shutdown leading to interruption of power supply in all parts of de country”. The GRIDCo says its team of engineers is currently working to get the grid back up and running.
Ghana has in recent times experienced several blackouts owing to the increasing debt profile of the electricity sector.
