GECA calls for the sack of ECG boss
- Alleges delay in payment of Contractors
- President of GECA says the purported letter a fraud
The Ghana Electrical Contractors Association (GECA) has purportedly filed a petition before Ghana’s Minister of Energy seeking the sack of the Managing Director (MD) the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Kwame Agyeman-Budu. The group accuses the MD of failing to pay its Contractors and also allege incompetence on the part of the MD.
The group, in the letter, alleges that, despite funds being released by the Government of Ghana for the payment of Contractors, the MD has sat on the funds and refused to disburse them. They also alleged the MD, has deprived the ECG of materials needed to carry out their responsibilities.
The President, GECA Nana Addo Tetebo has described the petition as frivolous and fraudulent. He clarified that the GECA never issued any petition and alleges the petition is the work of mischief-makers. “The letters from the GECA have letterheads but this one does not have one” he added.
Mr Tetebo asked the general public to disregard the frivolous petition adding that, the ECG has done everything in its power to resolve issues regarding the payment of the Contractors.
