KMA asks trespassers to vacate the project site
- The site is for the construction of the EDSREP project
- Encroachment on-site is preventing the contractors from mobilising to the site
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has warned trespassers to vacate the site for the construction of the Electricity Distribution Sector Reinforcement Project (EDSREP). The trespassers on the project site have prevented the Contractors from mobilising to site. The KMA has issued a deadline of 31st May to all trespassers to vacate the site. The failure to do so will result in a forceful ejection by the authorities.
The EDSREPproject is an intervention by the Ministry of Energy. The project aims at improving power supply to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and some part of the Central Business District (CBD). The Contractor for the project has tried unsuccessfully for three years to evict the trespassers. The Contractor risks termination of the contract if project deadlines are not met.
