- Ghana Authority plans to switch to renewable energy for its energy needs.
According to Deputy Energy Minister Andrew Agyapa Mercer, the government of Ghana is ready to phase out the use of fossil fuel as the country transitions to renewable energy in line with the global decarbonisation agenda.
Speaking at the Eastern Regional Forum for National Energy Transition organised by the Ministry of Energy at Koforidua, Andrew said that the government is conscious that the transition to cleaner energy in the next few years will require substantial resources.
He noted that the government would continue to explore and develop oil and gas in a more environmentally sustainable manner, enforce a zero flaring policy, carbon capture utilisation and storage technology to ensure that petroleum activities do not adversely affect the environment.
