Société Générale Ghana, in partnership with Melcom, unveiled a solar power initiative at Melcom’s Spintex Branch, demonstrating its dedication to sustainable finance.
The installation of a 1,262KWP Grid-Tie Rooftop Solar PV system is funded with over GH¢13 million from Société Générale Ghana. It aims to slash Melcom’s Spintex branch electricity costs by up to 35 per cent, highlighting a substantial investment in renewable energy.
During the launch in Accra, Hakim Ouzzani, Managing Director of Société Générale Ghana, emphasised the environmental benefits of solar energy, stressing its role in reducing carbon emissions and establishing a sustainable energy infrastructure. Ouzzani reiterated the bank’s commitment to a low-carbon economy and pledged ongoing support for similar initiatives.
This underscored Société Générale Ghana’s role in assisting clients with sustainability goals. Godwin Avenorgbo, Melcom’s Group Director of Communications, highlighted the project’s objective of decreasing reliance on grid power.
