- GlidePath installs battery storage facility in Texas
- The facility will provide support to the Texas electricity grid.
American energy storage developer GlidePath Power Solutions has begun the installation of a 50MW battery energy storage facility in Texas. The Illinois-based company expects to have the storage facility in operation this summer.
The facility will be located in the city of Sweeny in Texas’ Brazoria County. It will provide grid support to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) during periods of expected grid stress. As a result, the project will further enhance local grid resilience in the greater Houston region, GlidePath noted. The battery installation will be equipped with the latest technology and safety control systems. In addition, the power delivery will be aided by artificial intelligence-driven algorithms, the developer added.
GlidePath has over 70 standalone battery and solar-plus-storage projects in its 12GWh development portfolio.
