Greenvolt, a Portuguese renewables group, has entered the Romanian distributed generation (DG) market with plans to deploy 110 MW of solar power capacity in the Balkan country over the next three years.
The company’s DG solutions business, Greenvolt Next, will spend EUR 27 million (USD 28.8m) to install the proposed capacity.
Greenvolt highlighted the DG segment’s significant role in the current geopolitical environment as an option to lower electricity costs and improve price volatility.
The company will rely on Romania’s strong renewable energy solutions potential and efforts to meet the national green capacity addition goals.
Joao Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group, said, “The launch of Greenvolt Next Romania represents a natural step in the growth of the group’s pan-European self-consumption platform,” adding that the Balkan country could be “at the forefront of the decentralised energy revolution.
