- The partnership aims to support green hydrogen projects that power the national grid and key industrial users, including an oil refinery and steel plants.
- Quang Ngai plans to expand its industrial parks and enhance its position as a hub for sustainable energy and battery production.
France’s HDF Energy plans to introduce new clean energy technologies to Vietnam’s central Quang Ngai province.
HDF Energy signed an MoU with the Quang Ngai Department of Industry and Trade on Tuesday, September 17. The agreement enables HDF Energy to deploy its HyPower (gas-to-power) hydrogen energy and Renewstable (power-to-power) systems in the province. These technologies will support green hydrogen projects and supply energy to the national grid and vital industrial users.
These energy solutions will benefit key industries in Quang Ngai, including the oil refinery and steel manufacturing plants. Provincial officials say the coastal Dung Quat Economic Zone offers strong potential for green hydrogen and battery production.
Vo Van Ran, head of Quang Ngai’s Department of Industry and Trade, highlighted the importance of green hydrogen energy in powering remote areas and islands. He emphasised hydrogen as a priority for the province’s future development.
Mathieu Geze, director of Asia at HDF Energy, pointed out that Quang Ngai’s abundant solar and wind energy resources can drive innovation in the hydrogen sector. He believes the partnership will accelerate sustainable energy and eco-friendly solutions for the region.
Quang Ngai continues to grow as an industrial hub in central Vietnam. The province operates five industrial parks, four of which are in the Dung Quat Economic Zone. Authorities plan to expand to ten parks by 2030, covering 6,648 hectares.
The Dung Quat Economic Zone and Quang Ngai Industrial Parks Authority report that the region hosts 348 active projects worth VND389.64 trillion ($15.31 billion), including 63 foreign-invested projects.
Significant developments in the province include the Dung Quat oil refinery, the Dung Quat 2 steel complex, and the long-delayed Ca Voi Xanh (Blue Whale) gas-to-power project.
