Russian PV manufacturer Hevel is set to complete the construction of its 30 MW Russko-Polyanskaya solar plant in Western Siberia, the government of the Omsk region has announced. The plant will generate about 35.5GWh annually, powering 3,000 rural houses, according to the local government. The plant is set to be launched on December 10th.
Regional energy minister Anton Gaak stated that in addition to avoiding emissions, the new solar plant would improve the Omsk region’s self-sufficiency in power generation. “With new power generation, we can adjust this [system] and, ultimately, reduce the price for electricity for customers in [the] Omsk region,” he added.
The Russko-Polyanskaya plant will increase the Omsk region’s solar generation capacity to 61MW. In addition, the Omsk government plans to increase solar share in energy generation. The government plans to construct six solar plants within the next three years. The government has also launched new incentives to attract investors, including a possible reduction of property tax for companies using renewable energy projects.
