Highlights of the All On Social Solar Initiative

All On recognizes that in a post-Covid environment whereby poor communities, small businesses, and social sector organizations continue to suffer the brunt of the economic downturn, there is a need to show up as good corporate citizens to further demonstrate that at times like these, our mission to accelerate the closing of the energy access gap, thus providing energy to underserved and unserved communities in Nigeria, is even more critical in alleviating poverty.

This initiative builds on the success of All On’s Covid Solar Relief Fund that helped support some of our investee businesses by providing business opportunities while contributing to the national Covid relief effort. Funds will be provided to investees in good standing to provide solar power to non-profit facilities and/or organisations providing key social services free of charge in communities around the country.

All On staff and community/board members/Shell staff will identify proposed projects and commit 25 per cent initial seed funding with the remaining cost carried by All On up to a maximum of ₦10 million per project. All projects will be executed by appropriate investee companies in good standing and will be relatively small in scale—the average size of each project is expected to range between ₦3 million – ₦5 million.

This initiative would further highlight the capabilities of solar as a legitimate energy alternative in social sector organisations while providing business opportunities to investees. Additional objectives include:

1. Provides a charitable contribution to social sector organizations in needy communities

2. Raises sector awareness and potential in needy communities

3. Presents an opportunity for active participation in projects that contribute to the energy transition in needy communities.
