Huasun Energy, a heterojunction (HJT) photovoltaic technology leader, has partnered with ITRAMAS Corporation Sdn. Bhd. This collaboration aims to establish 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of photovoltaic projects in Malaysia.
The agreement surfaced during the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2024. Malaysia’s Minister of Economic Affairs, YB Tuan Mohd Rafizi Bin Ramli, witnessed both companies signing memorandums of understanding (MoU).
Under the partnership, Huasun will supply ITRAMAS with high-performance HJT solar modules exceeding 700 watts. This supply will begin in 2025 and support large-scale project development in Malaysia.
This strategic collaboration enhances the local solar supply chain and aligns with Malaysia’s energy transition goals and broader ASEAN ambitions. The country’s climate, marked by abundant sunlight, makes it ideal for photovoltaic projects.
In July 2023, the Malaysian government introduced its National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR). This roadmap sets the goal for renewable energy to account for 70% of the total energy mix by 2050, with solar power expected to contribute 58%. The NETR has attracted considerable interest from solar sector stakeholders like Huasun and ITRAMAS, who showcased their commitment at IGEM 2024.
ITRAMAS operates over 200 megawatts (MW) of solar projects in Malaysia. Through this partnership with Huasun, it plans to increase its capacity to 1.5 GW, cementing the company’s role in Malaysia’s renewable energy landscape.
Huasun boasts a production capacity of 20 GW for HJT products, making it the world’s largest manufacturer of this technology. The company has supplied over 7 GW of HJT products to more than 40 countries.
