- Hy Stor Energy LP reserves 1 GW+ of electrolysers from Nel ASA for the US’s largest zero-carbon hydrogen hub.
- Nel ASA will be the exclusive electrolyser partner for Mississippi Clean Hydrogen Hub phase one.
Hy Stor Energy LP has reserved over 1 GW of electrolysers from Nel ASA for its Mississippi Clean Hydrogen Hub (MCHH). This will become the US’s largest zero-carbon hydrogen production and storage hub.
Nel ASA will be Hy Stor Energy’s exclusive electrolyser partner for the project’s initial phase. The capacity reservation agreement includes alkaline electrolysers from Nel’s factory in Heroya, Norway.
This agreement is finalised and will be confirmed upon signing a purchase contract. Nel anticipates electrode production at the Heroya site continuing through 2025, 2026, and 2027.
The Mississippi hub aims to generate and store green hydrogen for various sectors across the state and the Eastern US. Last month, Hy Stor Energy signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with steelmaker SSAB.
To establish a direct hydrogen supply partnership from the site. Hy Stor Energy became the first pledge member in North America to commit to the GH2 Green Hydrogen Standard in 2022. They pledged to produce green molecules using 100% or near 100% renewable energy sources.
