Hybrid Systems Australia, a subsidiary of Pacific Energy, has stated that it will construct a new factory to produce off-grid and edge-of-grid systems in Perth, Australia. The company says that the new facility will increase its production capacity and meet demands for standalone power systems.
In February, the Western Australian government had stated that it intends to invest AUD 218 million ($167 million) to manufacture and install over 1,000 standalone power systems in the state over the next five years.
According to the company, when completed, the facility will be the largest SPS manufacturing factory in the world. The company estimates a future demand of about 2,000 SPS in the state.
The state utility, Western Power, noted that it has installed 58 SPS in the state and would continue to roll out SPS to improve power reliability in regional and remote areas.CEO Ed Kalajzic stated, “we’re increasingly using renewables, and SPS provides a viable alternative to traditional poles and wires while realizing commercial, social, and environmental benefits.”
