Ignite Energy Access Nigeria has completed a solar electrification project in 34 schools across rural communities in 19 states, providing thousands of students with reliable electricity for learning and digital education.

The firm installed high-quality MySol solar systems in schools that previously had little or no connection to the national grid, ensuring continuous power for classrooms, laboratories and digital devices. The project, it said, transformed learning environments that had long relied on unstable or non-existent electricity.

Mangiza Phiri, Managing Director of Ignite Energy Access Nigeria and Regional Director for West Africa, said the initiative demonstrates the company’s commitment to bridging educational inequality through clean energy.

“This project forms part of our effort to use renewable energy to close the education gap in underserved areas,” Phiri said. “Access to power should never be a barrier to a child’s future.”

Furthermore, Ignite Energy installed the solar systems in schools across Benue, Cross River, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Abuja FCT, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau and Taraba states.

In addition, Very Rev. Boniface Chimezie Ewo, Vice Principal of Community Secondary School, Umueze, Awkunano, Nkannu, Enugu State, one of the project’s beneficiaries, stated that the intervention has transformed school life.

“This support has brought real excitement to our school,” he said. “Both staff and students are truly grateful to be among the beneficiaries of this rural electrification project. It has made a meaningful difference, and we deeply appreciate the team for this impactful gesture.”
