According to the ministry order, RE projects that are being developed through agencies designated by the MNRE and have their commissioning dates on or after the 1st of April would be eligible for the time extension. The ministry noted that time extensions do not serve as grounds for the termination of power purchase agreements (PPA) or increasing projects costs.
Several states in the country have enacted limited lockdown measures such as nighttime curfew and weekend lockdowns to curb the spread f the virus. The Ministry last year provided a 5-months blanket time extension for RE projects due to the nationwide Covid-19 lockdown. The ministry could grant further time extension over five months in exceptional cases.
