- GSDP Conversation Series was launched in New Delhi by the German Embassy and BMZ.
- It aims to address global environmental challenges through triangular cooperation.
In collaboration with BMZ, the German Embassy launched the Green and Sustainable Development (GSDP) ‘GSDP Conversation Series’ in New Delhi on March 22. This series aims to address global environmental challenges through triangular cooperation involving India, Germany, and third countries.
It builds upon an agreement signed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on May 2, 2022. The inaugural event focused on issues like green energy, urban sustainability, and climate resilience, with participation from countries such as Cameroon, Peru, Ghana, Benin, and Malawi.
German Ambassador Dr. Philipp Ackermann highlighted the partnership’s strength in combating climate change and promoting sustainable development. The GSDP aligns with key global agendas like the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement. Priorities include promoting renewables, green hydrogen, climate-friendly cities, electric vehicles, and reducing plastic waste.
Germany has committed at least 10 billion euros to support India under the GSDP until 2030. Under the Triangular Cooperation initiative, India and Germany will collaborate with countries across Asia, Africa, and the Indo-Pacific region.
The Conversation Series aims to foster discussions among key stakeholders interested in Triangular Cooperation. Plans include continuing the series across various Indian cities six times a year and launching a dedicated GSDP website and dashboard in 2024.
