India Set to Construct World’s Largest Floating Solar Power Plant

The largest floating solar power plant is set to be constructed at the Omkareshwar dam on Narmada river in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh, India. The plant is expected to be completed by 2022/2023. According to Hardeep Singh Dang, the energy minister for the state of Madhya Pradesh, the project is expected to gulp at Rs 3,000 crore (about US$408 million). Funding for the project will be provided by the International Finance Corporation, World Bank and Power Grid as they have all granted in-principle consent for the project’s development.

The primary feasibility study of the project has been completed in collaboration with the World Bank.
