The government of Iraq has begun deploying several initiatives to expand solar power generation in the country. One of the initiatives is the plan by Iraq’s State Company for Electric and Electronic Industries to build a plant for solar power pumps and electrical transformers.
In a statement by the company’s director-general, Sufian Al-Jabbouri, to the Iraqi official newspaper Al-Sabaah, the shift to renewable energy in the local industry makes an essential step as the company plans to rely on environmentally-friendly machines for its medium to long term operations.
“The transition will include also setting up production lines for electrical transformers and solar power pumps,” Al-Jabbouri, said. He noted that these plans would be implemented gradually to include all company factories.
