BYD, a global leader in electric vehicles, launched its all-electric Seagull model in Morocco. Starting Saturday, March 22, customers can purchase the compact car at Auto Nejma dealerships in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Agadir, and Tangier.
The Seagull features a 38.88 kWh battery for city driving, offering a 445-kilometre range. It supports AC and DC charging, with 7kW AC and 40kW DC options. The DC fast charger recharges the battery from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes, making it ideal for daily urban use.
The Seagull is powered by a 55kW (77 horsepower) electric motor that delivers 135Nm of torque. Its top speed is 130 km/h. BYD’s E-Platform 3.0 and Blade Battery technology enhance performance and safety.
The Seagull measures 3,780mm in length, 1,715mm in width, and 1,580mm in height. Inspired by ocean waves, its sleek design gives it a sporty look. Buyers can choose from black, white, or green colours. Inside, the car offers vegan leather sports seats and multiple storage options. A 10.1-inch rotating touchscreen, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, enhances user interaction. The vehicle also includes voice control functions for added convenience.
Safety features include six airbags and a reinforced body structure, ensuring a secure and comfortable experience for urban drivers.
BYD priced the Seagull at 209,900 MAD ($20,990) for a single “full option” variant, offering competitive pricing within Morocco’s growing electric vehicle market.
The Seagull marks BYD’s sixth model in Morocco since its market entry in July 2023, following the HAN, TANG, ATTO 3, SEAL, and SEAL U PHEV models. This launch further strengthens BYD’s commitment to advancing sustainable urban mobility in North Africa.
At the Casablanca launch event, Adil Bennani, General Manager of Auto Nejma, highlighted the Seagull’s strategic importance. “The BYD Seagull represents a major milestone for BYD in Morocco,” said Bennani, emphasising its role in supporting Morocco’s urban mobility solutions.
With the Seagull’s introduction, BYD continues expanding its position in the North African electric vehicle market. It provides affordable, eco-friendly transportation options to meet the growing demand for sustainable mobility solutions.
