- Saudi Arabia discovers 14 new oil and gas fields, including six oil fields and six reservoirs across the Eastern Region and Empty Quarter.
- Aramco leads exploration efforts, locating key oil fields like Jabu, Sayahid, and Nuwayr, as well as gas fields like Ghizlan and Araam.
- The Energy Minister highlights strategic value, saying the discoveries will boost hydrocarbon reserves, support economic growth, and strengthen global energy leadership.
According to the Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia has discovered 14 new oil and gas fields and reservoirs. The Saudi Press Agency reported the announcement on Wednesday.
The Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco) made the discoveries across two major areas—the Eastern Region and the Empty Quarter. The findings include six oil fields, two oil reservoirs, two natural gas fields, and four natural gas reservoirs.
In the Eastern Region, Aramco found three new oil fields: Jabu, Sayahid, and Ayfan. The company also located two oil reservoirs: Jubaila and Unayzah-A. These discoveries expand Aramco’s growing oil infrastructure in the region.
Aramco discovered three more oil fields in the Empty Quarter: Nuwayr, Damda, and Qurqas. The company continues to explore this vast desert region to uncover untapped energy resources.
Aramco also located two new natural gas fields, Ghizlan and Araam, in the Eastern Region and identified one unconventional reservoir in the Qusaiba formation.
The company discovered three gas reservoirs in the Empty Quarter: Arab-C in the Marzouq field, Arab-D, and Upper Jubaila. Aramco continues to evaluate these reservoirs to prepare for future gas production.
Prince Abdulaziz emphasised the importance of the discoveries. He said the findings boost Saudi Arabia’s global energy leadership and expand the Kingdom’s hydrocarbon reserves.
The Minister said the discoveries would support Saudi Arabia’s long-term economic growth. He explained that they strengthen the country’s ability to meet energy demands at home and abroad. He described the new fields as vital to future energy security.
Prince Abdulaziz reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to responsible energy production. He said the country will use sustainable practices in developing the new sites. Aramco plans to assess the reserves further before full development begins.
Saudi Arabia continues to pursue a strategy that combines oil dominance with expanded gas exploration. The country aims to grow its gas sector while reducing oil usage in local power generation.
The discoveries mark another step in Aramco’s push to expand its upstream operations. The company continues to invest heavily in exploration and development activities across the Kingdom.
Aramco plans to carry out more exploration campaigns in the coming months. It aims to identify new energy sources in other regions and will follow up with detailed technical assessments and development planning.
With these new finds, Saudi Arabia looks to maintain its strong global energy presence. The latest oil and gas fields will enhance the Kingdom’s capacity and support global market stability. The discoveries also open new opportunities for partnerships and economic growth in the energy sector.
