- Boundiali solar plant inaugurated in Ivory Coast.
- The capacity of 37.5 MWp covers 36 hectares.
Ivory Coast celebrated the inauguration of the Boundiali solar plant. Prime Minister Mambé led the ceremony on April 3, 2024. The plant covers 36 hectares and has a capacity of 37.5 MWp.
Eiffage Énergie Systèmes builds Saft and enhances it with the storage system. The plant powers 70,000 homes and reduces CO2 emissions by 60,000 tonnes yearly.
The government aims to diversify the energy mix and increase the renewable share to 45 per cent by 2030. The second phase involves boosting capacity to 83 MWp, which will require an investment of 76.5 million euros.
The EU and KfW provide financial support. Private investors are eyeing the solar sector. Amea Power will invest in the Bondoukou plant, and PFO Africa will target the Sokhoro facility.
Ivory Coast is making strides towards a sustainable energy future.
