The plant is being seen as a sustainable solution to the increasing waste management challenge in the country. JGC intends to supply the energy generated from the plant to the power grid to ease electricity challenges.
According to McDavid Green Solution, its waste-to-energy technology will generate about 45 per cent more energy than conventional technology. The company says that preliminary studies will determine the capacity of the future plant. However, the company has stated that waste will not require any form of treatment or sorting.
The memorandum of understanding signed by both companies put the construction duration for the waste-to-energy plant at between 12 and 16 months following construction.
