  • The Solar Power Plant is to aid rural electrification in Kenya

JinkoSolar, a Chinese company, launched its latest solar photovoltaic panel, the Tiger Neo, in the Kenyan market on Wednesday, with a capacity of between 410MW and 620MW, to boost the country’s electrification rates.

The Tiger Neo is ideal for both household and industrial uses, according to Sammy Borothi, business development manager of JinkoSolar-Sub Saharan Africa in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital.

“The solar panel uses cutting-edge technology to ensure that Kenya can take advantage of its abundant solar energy resources to close the electricity gap,” Borothi explained. According to Borothi, Tiger Neo generates over 3% more power than conventional solar panels while exhibiting less degradation over time.

Photovoltaic panels were supplied by a Chinese company to the Garissa solar power plant in Eastern Kenya, which has a capacity of 55MW. The Garissa solar power plant, which was completed in 2019, is thought to be East and Central Africa’s largest solar power plant.
