- JinkoSolar has announced it has partnered with Sinopec to develop a pilot project for green hydrogen production.
JinkoSolar is set to participate in a pilot project for green hydrogen production from solar energy. JinkoSolar, the world’s largest solar panel manufacturer, has formed a “strategic partnership” with Chinese petroleum giant Sinopec to deploy the hydrogen production facility. JinkoSolar will supply the solar panels that Sinopec will utilise to produce green hydrogen needed to power fuel cells. According to a statement from both companies, “Sinopec Star plans to set up several industrial-scale solar-powered emissions-free hydrogen production facilities across the country, which will serve as proof of concept of solar hydrogen supplied from advanced solar technology be cost-competitive.”
Both companies are expected to collaborate on the 3 billion yuan ($472 million) hydrogen fuel plant currently being constructed by Sinopec in the Xinjiang region. The plant billed as the largest green hydrogen facility in the world will have a production capacity of 20,000 tons of hydrogen annually. JinkoSolar’s founder Kangping Chen believes that the partnership could lead to the first-ever integration of next-generation N-type technology into solar hydrogen production.
