JIVO Energy Commissions Solar-BESS Systems in Liberia

  • JIVO Energy has completed the installation of solar PV and battery storage hybrid systems at 39 health facilities across Liberia.
  • The systems now provide clean, reliable power to off-grid health centres and reduce reliance on diesel generators.

JIVO Energy has completed Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) hybrid installations at 39 health facilities across Liberia. The systems now provide reliable and clean electricity to locations that previously operated entirely off-grid.

The World Bank financed the project, and the Rural and Renewable Energy Agency implemented it. The work took 18 months to complete. JIVO Energy will operate and maintain the systems for two years.

System capacities range from 2 kWp/15 kWh to 18 kWp/70 kWh. The installations allow health facilities to meet their electricity needs independently and reduce dependence on diesel generators.

JIVO Energy said that remote sites created logistical challenges during implementation. However, the company noted that these same locations gained the most impact, as the systems now power critical healthcare services with stable electricity.

The initiative supports Liberia’s broader efforts to expand renewable energy access in rural and off-grid communities.
