Jos DisCo Announces Five Hour Power Outage for Maintenance

  • Jos DisCo will interrupt the power supply on July 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to conduct routine maintenance on the 330kV Lafia-Jos Line 2.
  • About 7.5 MW of load will shift to Line 1 to minimise impact and maintain supply stability.

Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (Jos DisCo) will shut down power supply for five hours on Thursday, July 10, to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to carry out scheduled maintenance at the Jos Transmission Station.

On Tuesday, Acting Head of Corporate Communications Saratu Dauda said the outage will affect the 330kV Lafia-Jos Line 2 (2LFA-JOS2) between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

In addition, Dauda explained that the maintenance will involve routine equipment checks, calibration, and relay functionality tests to ensure optimal performance and safe service restoration.

“During the exercise, we will briefly interrupt about 7.5 megawatts of load and transfer it to Lafia-Jos Line 1 (2LFA-JOS1) to reduce disruption and maintain system stability,” she said.

She also added that the company appreciates customers’ patience and stressed that the preventive work is vital to strengthening supply reliability across the distribution network.

Finally, Jos DisCo reaffirmed its commitment to improving service and urged customers to bear the temporary inconvenience. “We remain dedicated to serving you better,” Dauda said.
