Kaduna Electric Launches Meters in Argungu, Yauri and Zuru Emirates

The Management of Kaduna Electric has commenced meters deployment under the National Mass Metering Programme in Argungu, Yauri and Zuru Emirates in Kebbi State.
Flagging off the Programme in Argungu, Yauri and Zuru last week, the Managing Director/ CEO of the Company, Engr. Garba Haruna who was represented by the Chief Technical Officer of the Company, Engr. Bello Musa described the exercise as a demonstration of the Company’s commitment to a fair and transparent transaction with it customers.
The electricity boss also expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation and collaboration between the Company and the Government of Kebbi State, stressing that the ”mutual beneficial relationship between the State Government and Company accounted for the current stable power supply currently being experienced in the state”.
Engr. Garba Haruna disclosed that the Board of the Company has approved the procurement and deployment of 200,000 meters this year, an exercise which he said is currently being carried out simultaneously in the eighteen Area Offices of the Company.
He disclosed that the Company has earmarked about 15,000 meters to be deployed to the three Emirates this year and appealed for patience, assuring that all unmetered customers of the Company would be metered as the programme progresses.
He also appealed to the revered traditional rulers to use their positions to mobilise their subjects to imbibe the Programme and eschew tampering with energy meters.
”It is pertinent to caution that tampering and bypass of meters are criminal offences; the full weight of the law shall be brought on anybody caught perpetrating any of these offences”, he warned.
In their separate remarks, the Emirs of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammad Mera; Yauri, Dr. Zayyan Abdullahi and Zuru, Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami,  expressed delight on the meters deployment programme, contending that the exercise will surely lay to rest, the frequent misunderstandings, bickering and agitations over the estimated billings.
The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammad Mera however cautioned that the automation of the Company’s process should not serve as an excuse to render many workers of the Company jobless.
He charged the customers of the Company in his domain to be disciplined in their electricity usage as the era of energy wastage is over.
In his remarks, the Emir of Zuru, General Muhammadu Sani Sami, Sami Gomo II commended Kaduna Electric for the initiative which according to him will ensure fairness and transparency.
He charged Kaduna Electric to intensify preventive maintenance on the Yauri- Zuru 33KV line, as the rainy season is by the corner, to sustain the current power supply stability in the Emirate.
