- REA and Kebbi State will host a strategic roundtable on September 15 in Abuja to build partnerships with RESCOs, investors, and innovators for clean energy projects.
- Kebbi State, through KERA, is driving investment, expanding access, and building a transparent, sustainable electricity market under the 2023 Electricity Act.
On Monday, September 15, 2025, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and the Kebbi State Government will host the REA–Kebbi State Strategic Roundtable at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
The event, themed “Bridging Infrastructure Gaps and Igniting Innovative Growth for a Resilient Electricity Market,” will bring together Renewable Energy Service Companies (RESCOs), investors, innovators, and key players in Nigeria’s clean energy space. The roundtable will serve as a platform to forge strategic partnerships and accelerate renewable energy development in Kebbi State.
Meanwhile, as part of the State-by-State Initiative, the REA seeks to optimise state electricity markets, drive socio-economic growth, and establish resilient renewable energy frameworks across Nigeria. The initiative reflects the amended Electricity Act 2023, which empowers states to play a more direct role in managing their energy sectors.
Furthermore, Kebbi State has taken significant steps to build a sustainable and investment-friendly power sector. Under the leadership of Governor Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, the state established the Kebbi State Electricity Regulatory Authority (KERA) in 2024 to oversee its electricity market. Through KERA, Kebbi has promoted renewable energy solutions that expand access, equity, and reliability across communities.
According to the REA’s Managing Director/CEO, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, the roundtable will strengthen collaboration between state governments, RESCOs, and other energy stakeholders. Discussions will also focus on innovative business models, new investment opportunities, and strategies to build a resilient electricity ecosystem for Kebbi State.
