A nationwide blackout in Kenya has occurred following the collapse of a major high-voltage transmission pylon, state-owned power utility Kenya Power stated. In a statement, Kenya Power confirmed the incident at Kiambere—Embakasi high voltage transmission power line.
“Our engineers are working to restore electricity supply as the repairs are being undertaken.” the statement read.
“An update on the restoration progress will be issued in due course; we wish to apologize to our customers for the inconvenience caused,” Kenya Power stated.
