Popular musician clashes with Kenya Power staff
- Alleges staff tried to force their way into her home
- Staff could not explain the intent of their visit
Popular Kenyan musician Akothee has alleged staff from state-owned power company Kenya Power attempted to gain entrance into her home forcefully. According to Akothee, the staff refused to identify themselves and failed to explain why they were at her residence. She explained that, when asked the reason for the visit, the team responded that they were there to work on electrical cables.
In a post on her official Instagram handle, Akotthee said, ”I don’t owe you anything, you have no right to force yourself into my home without my permission”. ”Come and move out all the wires passing through my compound so you can be accessing them anytime you feel like”, she added.
Kenya Power has, however, asked consumers to follow protocol in confirming the identities of individuals claiming to be staff of the utility company. Consumers are to send a text with the staff number(s) of the individual(s) to 95551 to confirm if they are genuine staff of Kenya Power. If they claim to be staff of Kenya Power, add an E in front of their staff number. If the person is a contractor, add a C in front of the staff number.
