Kenya Power has installed two free electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for public use at Stima Plaza and Ruaraka in Nairobi. EV owners can access the charging stations for free by obtaining an RFID card from the Kenya Power security desks at Stima Plaza and Ruaraka.
The Stima Plaza station, inaugurated by CEO Joseph Siror, was constructed at KSh 6.5 million, marking Kenya Power’s commitment to investing in e-mobility infrastructure.
Also, Joseph Siror, the Managing Director and CEO of Kenya Power, unveiled two charging stations for electric vehicles (EV), one at Stima Plaza and the other at Ruaraka.
However, introducing these charging stations marks a significant step towards embracing green technology and reducing carbon emissions in the city.
Kenya Power states, “The two electric vehicle (EV) chargers, one at Stima Plaza and the other at Ruaraka, will be open for free use by members of the public who own EVs, primarily to assist the Company in its research and development.”
To use the charging stations, EV owners must obtain an RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) card from the Kenya Power security desks at Stima Plaza and Ruaraka.
Furthermore, the stations feature cutting-edge technology, including a 50 kW DC charger that can provide a full charge in just one hour and a 22 kW AC charger that can charge in two hours.
