Kenyatta to commission 400kV transmission line
- The President will commission the line during a five-day tour of the county
President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to commission several projects in the country. One of these projects is the construction of a 308km 400/220/132kV transmission line. The transmission line runs from Olkaria in Naivasha to Kisumu in Western Kenya. The line will evacuate electricity from Olkaria through Lessos, to Kisumu. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in partnership with the Kenyan government, provided financing for the project for a total of Sh16 billion.
“The project is complete and in its final stages of testing awaiting commissioning”, the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) announced in a statement on Thursday. President Kenyatta will commission the line during his five-day tour of Kisumu County.
